The image above was created by Alexandra Valentini. The
collage is created by a process of painting on top of a photograph to give the
image a different look and meaning from its original one.
Above and below is show my interpretation of her work, which
I believe has strengths in similarities such as its basis is an obscure image I
have sourced from the same time period and displays similar subjects in a very
similar environment to most of her images which are based upon photographs
taken during musical festivals of the late 1960s. Also similarly between the
creations are the use of overlaid colourful shapes following patterns in the
image, although I have failed to use the media originally used by the artist
whom used felt tipped pens, I consciously chose not to use this media as I replicated
the piece on a far smaller scale than the originals and the clumsiness of such
a media would not allow for the small scale of detail achieved.
